Testimonials

Asoka and I appreciate Dr. Ferreyra’s professional expertise, his positive and caring attitude, and his dedication to research that is helping patients like me.

My recent appointment with Dr. Ferreyra (9/29/15) at the retina clinic reminded both my husband Asoka and me of how truly fortunate I am to have Dr. Ferreyra’s care for my somewhat unusual eye condition.

Due to his ongoing research, Dr. Ferreyra refined the original diagnosis.  Currently my eyes are stable; the condition is steadily monitored by Dr. Ferreyra and his team at the clinic.  However, the doctor assures me that, should my condition change and intervention be required, advanced treatment is available through the retina clinic at Shiley.

Dr. Ferreyra was one of a number of outstanding Fellows who treated my eyes during the first years I was a patient at Shiley.  After he joined the Faculty at Shiley, I requested to be placed under his care.  From the beginning, I have appreciated his personal interest in my particular situation, and his considering my eye condition as a challenge that retina research is taking continuing strides to meet. His explanations are clear, and he always takes time to answer our questions.  His confidence (even excitement) about the future of his field is reassuring and inspiring.

Not only is Dr. Ferreyra an outstanding specialist, he is also a fine mentor.  During my consultations, he is usually accompanied by a younger doctor or medical student. Dr. Ferreyra takes care in explaining my condition, the history, and what has been done at various stages.  He also shows the most recent retina photographs (taken each time I go), contrasting them with earlier photos.  On the 29th we noticed that, in my now voluminous file, there is a prominent marker; he told the student that this indicates when he took over my case.  His enthusiasm when teaching is evident.

In sum, Asoka and I appreciate Dr. Ferreyra’s professional expertise, his positive and caring attitude, and his dedication to research that is helping patients like me.

Sincerely,

Janine Mendis
